Throughout Australia, isolation, loneliness, depression, suicide and mental health rates are all climbing. These rates are even higher in regional and rural areas, due to remoteness and the stresses on farmers as a result of devastating experiences. Rural Aid provides free counselling to farmers who would otherwise never have had access to such desperately needed help.
Anxiety has been a constant companion for many rural communities during these challenging times of COVID19. The entire Rural Aid team is experiencing an increased number of requests for assistance and support, coming from different parts of Australia. Rural Aid’s Counsellors are working tirelessly to support as many farmers and families as possible through this turbulent period.
Just $250 covers the cost to provide a farmer with a face-to-face counselling session.
About Rural Aid
Rural Aid is one of Australia’s largest rural charities. Well known for the highly successful ‘Buy a Bale’ campaign, the charity also provides financial assistance, water and counselling to farmers in times of drought, flood or fire. Other initiatives support its vision that farming and rural communities are safeguarded to ensure their sustainability both during and after these natural disasters.
Australian farmers produce almost 93% of Australia’s daily domestic food supply. When a natural disaster impacts farmers, it affects all of us. Many of the farmers that Rural Aid assists have not had an income in years, and yet they work tirelessly each day to keep their farms going.
Visit www.ruralaid.org.au for further information on these programs and other support for our rural communities.
