Gift of Music is an initiative helping disadvantaged children and youth in rural and remote Australia gain access to the life-changing educational and social opportunities that music brings. Music education is crucial for all children’s development, but for children and families isolated by location and impacted by the devastation of drought and natural disaster, music is imperative.
Rural Aid’s Gift of Music program gives instruments and scholarships to students in Rural Australia, so that more children in need can access music education and participation, despite current financial and geographical limitations. Gift of Music is dedicated to helping improve the mental well-being of rural children, their families and communities. The gift of music can change a child’s life. The gift of music to a rural school in need, can change many children’s lives, forever.
The average cost to supply a new guitar to a rural school is $200.
About Rural Aid
Rural Aid is one of Australia’s largest rural charities. Well known for the highly successful ‘Buy a Bale’ campaign, the charity also provides financial assistance, water and counselling to farmers in times of drought, flood or fire. Other initiatives support its vision that farming and rural communities are safeguarded to ensure their sustainability both during and after these natural disasters.
Australian farmers produce almost 93% of Australia’s daily domestic food supply. When a natural disaster impacts farmers, it affects all of us. Many of the farmers that Rural Aid assists have not had an income in years, and yet they work tirelessly each day to keep their farms going.
Visit www.ruralaid.org.au for further information on these programs and other support for our rural communities.
